The Dorset Community House is here to provide opportunities for community participation by providing support, referral and activities in a welcoming and friendly environment.

SERVICES PROVIDED BY US:

ROOM HIRE AND USE

We have an office space, a function room and a commercial kitchen available for use to community groups and other users. There may be a small cost involved dependent on the activity of the group. Do contact us to find out more.

COMMUNITY TRANSPORT

We have a 12 seater bus and a car that are available for people in the Dorset Municipality to be transported to both medical appointments and social engagements who would otherwise be unable to get there. There is a small charge depending on where you are going. Call Pat to make a booking: 0448 015 988

LOAVES & FISHES

Each Friday we receive a delivery from Loaves and Fishes and we distribute food to anyone in Dorset who needs it. Click here for more information about this service and delivery options available.

NILS (No Interest Loan Scheme)

NILS can provide interest free loans for people on a low income. Varying amounts are available, depending on need. NILS can be accessed through the House. Call between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday to make a phone appointment to be assessed for your loan.

HOUSING CONNECT

If you need a rental assistance pack, call us and we will post it to you or drop in and pick one up.

Anglicare Financial Counselling

Providing counselling and information for debt, consumer rights and responsibilities, superannuation, bankruptcy, referral to legal aid, money management and budgeting.

Availability: At the House on the second Thursday of every month. Call 1800 243 232.

Dorset Wellbeing Network

A network of support providers located in and around Dorset.

Availability: At the House every second month.

Housing Connect

Providing support with rental assistance. Including; applying for social housing and other housing assistance; support and advice with your private rental, including bond and rent arrears; support and advice on how to stay in your home; information and advice on your housing options.

Availability: At the House by Appointment. Call 1800 800 588.

The Launceston Community Legal Centre

Providing free legal advice in general law; welfare rights; disability discrimination; family law; employment law.

Availability: At the House every first Thursday every second month by appointment. Call 63341577.

Women’s Legal Services

Providing free and confidential legal advice and refusal service for women. Services include; Separation, Divorce, Family Violence Protection Orders, Child Safety, Parenting Agreements, Child Support, Family Law Property Matters, Sexual Assault.

Availability: At the House on the third Wednesday of every month. Call 6349 1943 or drop in.
